Take action: help us defeat EFCA!
Help defeat card check and other job-crushing initiatives by pledging your involvement. Let us know which action steps you will take to multiply the voices being heard by your member of Congress.
Host or attend an MMA EFCA Grassroots Meeting. MMA will be holding grassroots meetings across the state to help employers understand the dangers of the EFCA and to urge them to take action.
Sign up to add your name to the formal list of employers and employees opposed to the EFCA and to receive updates on EFCA-related activity.
Send an e-mail to both the senator or Congressional representative and their district director, by accessing their official congressional website. MMA will provide you with the specific web address.
Tell other small business owners about the Card Check issue and ask them to join you in the effort by doing as many action steps as they can. You have suppliers and business contacts who listen to you and will take action if you ask them.
Write a letter to the editor to your local daily and weekly newspapers. Monitor on-line news stories and blogs that have articles on Card Check and log into the comment section and express your opinion, again respectfully and politely.
Educate your local and elected officials on the issue; let them know the impact the legislation will have on city, county, and state economy.
Set up a meeting with a Congressional representative. Invite and bring to the meeting your suppliers, fellow business owners and other interested parties willing to participate. Help demonstrate how the legislation impacts the local economy. Contact MMA at 517-487-8513 for assistance.
Attend Town Hall or civic meetings sponsored by the Congressional representatives and express your viewpoint at the appropriate time in a polite, respectful way.
Write a letter to your Congressman to register your opposition. Send the letter to the District Office. MMA will supply you with information and contact information to prepare your letter.
